The project comprises MS pipeline laying works under Jal Jeevan Mission – Package 3, executed from Melur Zero Point to the Ramanathapuram District tapping point, covering an approximate total length of 97 km. From the zero point, 1118 mm diameter MS pipe was laid for the initial 1 km stretch. From this point, 1016 mm diameter MS pipe was laid for the subsequent 20 km. Thereafter, 914 mm diameter × 8.8 mm thickness MS pipe was laid for the next 18 km (approx.), up to the MBR (Master Balance Reservoir).
Beyond the MBR up to the tapping point, 1118 mm diameter MS pipes were laid, and from the tapping point to the MBR, a 1219 mm diameter MS pipeline was laid for a length of 24 km.
Pipeline laying operations were carried out using excavators and 15-ton capacity hydra cranes, supported by the required skilled and unskilled manpower.
At road crossing locations, trenchless pipeline laying methods were adopted. Manual excavation was carried out, and higher-diameter encasing pipes were provided for the carrier pipelines to ensure proper alignment and protection. All works were executed in compliance with approved alignment, level control, and safety standards.
All works were executed strictly in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and Jal Jeevan Mission quality standards.
